HOW FAMILY LAW AFFECTS THE WEALTH GAP with ERIKA GREEN for FAMILY COURT JUDGE
Aug 13, 2021 Season 2 Episode 1
Jay and Mink|Tha Godays WITH Erika Green

America’s family structure has been dwindling for generations. In the past forty years, a striking rise in single-parent families has arisen particularly as the result of births to never-married mothers. Forty years ago, 10 percent of births were to unmarried mothers; today the proportion is over 40 percent.

60 percent of all children living in poverty are in households headed by a single parent, usually the mother. Women who start out poor and disadvantaged are more likely to become single parents. And due to income restrictions when receiving government assistance, single parents refrain from putting themselves or their children in positions to build wealth by opting out of wealth-generating vehicles such as real estate, homeownership, stocks, and life insurance.

Join us as we dive in with Erika Green for Family Court Judge as she expounds on the challenges, policy, and the future of family law.
